Food Allergy Awareness Training

Food allergy is an abnormal response to a food triggered by the body’s immune system. Once exposed to an allergen the allergic person can suffer mild to life threatening reactions and in some rare cases death.

All food businesses and food handlers have a legal responsibility to ensure that they understand which foods may trigger an allergic reaction, how these foods should be correctly labelled and declared, and the control measures they can use to prevent contamination from allergenic ingredients.

Course Summary

  • This Food Allergy Awareness course has been developed by food safety professionals to help managers, supervisors and food handlers understand their legal responsibilities, identify and understand the fourteen listed food allergens. Their risk to consumers and how to control them.

  • Basic level of English 

 

Course duration

  • 1 day

Assessment

  • A 30 minute assessment is taken at the end of the day.

  • Assessment consists of 30 multiple choice questions.

  • Successful candidates will need to achieve 80% or more.

 

Certification
